Holy Eye-Westeros War

Post by Mareut on Fri Dec 11, 2015 7:05 am

Members of the Union:

At 0934 on December the 10th, 2015, 2 Holy Eye Bombers escorted by 5 Fighter Jets were flying over airspace above North Westeros on a routine mission to the Colony of Veya, when tragedy struck.Northmen Anti-Aircraft Guns opened fire and shot down the aircraft. All 4 aircraft landed in the ocean, 3 aircraft crashed on the mainland. There is no information on the Survivors, but the 11 pilots are suspected dead. The High Council of The Old Sky have deliberated the actions that have happened in the last couple hours and we have come to a decisive verdict. We are solemnly aware of our situation and have no other option but to declare a state of war with The Kingdom of The North Region of Westeros. May Hiasdf give us the strength to prevail over our enemies and spread the word of his own power.

The Merish Navy began mobilizing. The Isles were small, and geographically distant, so mobilization would take quite a while. A missive was sent out:

"To King Robb Stark,

We are mobilizing our fleets and preparing to offer defense. We are still awaiting information on where our navy would be most usefully deployed. We assume trade ports like Seagard and Whiteharbor would be ideal for protecting your economic interests, but will defer to your judgement on the matter.

Commanding Officer of the Westeros Mission"

Nations! Nations!  I repeat my previously unanswered questions.

Nations, nations! Let us step back from the brink of war and all of it's tragic and glorious repercussions. Let us have dialogue before we arm ourselves. Let us talk facts and proofs before we allow emotion to lead us. We know that The Kingdom of The North Region of Westeros closed it's airspace and gave warning.

We would ask, why did The Theocracy of Holy Eye violate the closed and sovereign airspace of a fellow region nation? Had a request for a "corridor" requested and if not, why?

We would also ask, was warning given by The Kingdom of The North Region of Westeros before firing these shots?

Let us ask and have answers to these and other questions before we march to war.

AS HOLY EYE
IC: A technical error was suspected in the GPS, a bug if you will, which led the planes to the territory before they were mercilessly shot down

AS HOLY EYE
IC: Battle of Ayagi

Word from the Front Lines have returned to us. At the historic battle site of Ayagi on the Island of Veya, blood was spilled once more. Yesterday at 1432, Holy Eye infantry engaged Westerosi Bannermen in combat. The 13th through 32nd Battalions lead by General Mcaiu lead a charge on a Westerosi Garrison in the city of Ayagi. After the initial assault, The Holy Eye started a siege of the city. 6 hours later, technicians breached the outer wall of the City. Westerosi airstrikes were causing heavy casualties in Holy Eye ranks. At 0251 this morning, General Mcaiu called a retreat. At 0641, a all Holy Eye troops had retreated. Overall, 7,453 casualties in the 3rd through 8th Battalions, 14th through 22nd Battalions, and 27th and 31st Battalions. We grieve for their families and hope that they are now with Hiasdf. Bombing shall continue over Westeros and the Veyan Campaign shall continue.

To General Rabe Lobster,

How many ships do you have? I agree that protecting trade ports would be beneficially, but if we take the fight to the enemy colonies we can stop his flow of troops and supplies to the main fight. Send the majority of your ships to these colonies and blockade them. A few ships can be used as protectors for trade.

We have received word of the gallant and heroic defense of the city Ayagi in the Holy Eye colony known as Veya. Around 2 pm two days ago, Northmen protecting the outer defenses of the city were assaulted by Holy Eye men lead by General Mcaiu, who pushed our men back into the city. Our leader, Jaime Bolton, organized the defense. The cowardly Holy Eye men decided to siege the city instead of assault it immediately. Around 8 pm that night, the outer walls were breached, and heavy fighting ensued, where Holy Eye men suffered heavy casualties. That morning, at around 3 am, Northern cavalry charged into the ranks of the opposing forces. General Mcaiu ordered a general retreat and the battle was won. Northern troops began with 6,437 battle-hardened men and lost relatively few men compared to the Holy Eye troops, who lost 7,453.

To the warring nations of the North and the Holy Eye:

As others have mentioned, this war seems to be a complete overreaction between your nations. I believe this conflict can be solved peacefully, and that no further blood need be spilled. I would encourage each of you to send a diplomat to my nation, which is a neutral ground, so that a ceasefire may be negotiated.

Letter to King Rob Stark

We can spare 350 of our ships. With your advise in mind, we will split our forces in two, part for defense, and part for blockading.

-Admiral Rade Lobster

Letter to President Indigo Winterstaff

If the Holy Eye ceases the hostilities it initiated then the diplomacy should be possible. As the North has indicated several times, it desires peace. Our own navy, bound by Salt Isles War Jurisprudence, is honor-bound to cease our active defense once foreign offense is withdrawn.

-Grand Captain Nebojsha Marlin

Merish Ice Sea, Near the Isle of Zag
The Merish People’s Navy was a colorful sight. Apart from the Leviathan-class nuclear submarines, each ship bore at least three flags. The topmost flag always the cyan-white-and-blue banner of the People’s Thalassocracy. The middle flag designated the region the ship had been constructed in, either the cyan-black-and-white flag of the Ice Isles, the white-and-green flag of the Salt Isles, the blue-and-gold flag of the Blue Isles, or the black-and-violet flag of the Deep Isles. The bottom flag signified the specific Isle the ship had been constructed in, each varying in its colors and design. Apart from the three “official” flags, the Merish hung other flags from lower positions on their ships, including Clan banners, the flags and symbols of political parties (mainly the Fisherman’s Party, of course), and flags meant to symbolize solidarity: the merman of Manderly, lobster of Magnar, kraken of Greyjoy, cod of Codd, and leviathan of Volmark were on prominent display. The direwolf of the Starks could be found as well, but as Nonmer, and thus not kin, the occasional inclusion of the Stark banner seemed more of an afterthought than anything else. Around one in every four ships was also painted, the hull of the ship in question covered in the bright, vivid, pastel colors and nightmare-plaids of the Blue Isles. The ships were finally assembled, pulling in from every corner of the Merish Seas.

Admiral Rade Lobster stood aboard the deck of the command ship designated for this operation, the MPS Bahamut, a sturdy Bluemer Wrath-class destroyer, it’s hull painted in the likeness of the gigantic mythic fish with which it shared its name. Of the Merish Admirals, Lobster had been selected for the perceived kinship ties between the Lobster Clan and House Magnar, the Westerosi House on the Isle of Skagos. Every Navy sailor with a surname of Lobster, Cod, Kraken, Leviathan, and Merling had been selected for deployment on this operation, MPN high command believing that sailors from those Clans would be more passionate about defending their perceived clanmates in Northern Westeros.

Admiral Lobster was a burly, grizzled man, his dark skin criss-crossed with scars. His hair was a blonde tangle, and the golden brush of a chevron mustache adorned his upper lip. The Admiral wore most of his uniform (the Merish People’s Navy among the most lax militaries in the world when it came to uniform enforcement), wearing the cyan-colored, fishscale-patterned pants that marked him as being from the Ice Isles, the metal-lined, sea turtle-shell helmet iconic to the Merish People’s Navy, and the purple neckerchief that would normally be worn over his shirt, wrapped around his veiny neck. For whatever reason, the Admiral chose not to wear his uniform’s shirt, exposing his bare midriff, plentiful scars, and awkwardly large nipples for all to see. Despite the absurdity of his appearance, the man exuded a sense of purpose and self-confidence.

The Admiral stood ready to give the speech that would set the ships into motion, speaking directly to his men, his image and voice being broadcast to the other three-hundred and fifty ships selected for deployment. “Comrades!!” he bellowed, “We go forward today in defense of our kin, under attack in other countries by vicious, intolerant fanatics!! With the recent terrorist attacks on the Isle of Zag by Church of Northland extremists, the plight of these Westmer is a plight we can all relate to, whether we are of Clan with the Westmer or not!! We strike out today in a proud, naval tradition, knowing well that we shall fight this enemy that threatens Merish religious freedoms, regardless of the Merish country that is threatened!! We take a stand today to recognize the vision of Pan-Merism, of One Merish People, united in all lands regardless of language, creed, or race!! Today we stand against hostile aggressors, fighting on behalf of the Merish they seek to oppress!! We will fight the aggressors until their aggression ceases. And we will show them the might of the Merish People’s Navy!!

“We shall divide our forces into two primary groups. The Wrath-class destroyers, K’un-class drone carriers, and a portion of the Vortex-class cruisers will be assigned to defend Merish ports in Westeros, half of them guarding the port of Whiteharbor, the other half stationed to protect the Iron Isles and the port of Seaguard. The other half of the Vortexes, along with the Leviathan-class nuclear submarines, and the Siphon-class stealth cruisers will be assigned to harass Holy Eye naval forces around their port cities. We believe the superior speed and stealth capabilities of Merish ships will give us the edge over the Holy Eye, a primarily landlocked peoples.”
