SEPARATION OF POWERS ACT
Abdoa proposes the following Bill to Parliament. Those who wish to endorse it, please put your names at the end.
SENATE OF THE PARLIAMENTARY UNION
SENATE ORDER 2015-3
TITLE: SEPARATION OF POWERS ACT
WHEREAS: in a full democracy, the executive, legislative and judicial powers are well and truly separated;
WHEREAS: currently the Constitution does not explicitly address this issue in a direct manner, be it therefore
ORDERED: that no member of this Parliament may at the same time be a member of the Executive, whether elected as President or Prime Minister, or appointed as a minister of the Cabinet;
ORDERED: that likewise no member of the Executive may at the same time be a member of this Parliament;
ORDERED: that if a Senator wishes to become a member of the Executive, whether elected or appointed, they must resign their seat in this Parliament before submitting their candidature;
ORDERED: that likewise, if a member of the Executive wishes to become a Senator in this Parliament, they must resign their post in the Executive before submitting their candidature.

Libertarian Democracy believes that this proposal could be seen as out-of-scope for this legislature. We, however, would support this as a Constitutional Amendment.

In the light of the recommendations made by our fellow Honorable Senators of this Parliament, we wish to withdraw this bill from Parliament to be resubmitted later as a constitutional amendment.
